WOOD DESIGN & ENGINEERING
TECHNICAL DETAILS
Our embossed wood panels can be produced from plywood or MDF. These can be what we refer to as “mill finish” or laminated with higher quality wood grain veneer.

Mill finish refers to the condition of the panel when it is produced. For plywood this can be an open grain wood either birch or Poplar and in the case of MDF the solid condition of the compressed wood fibres.
In order to produce the embossed surface, the panel is processed using very high temperature and significant surface pressure. The embossing process increases the panel surface density by a considerable factor which in turn leaves a surface finish which is ideal for subsequent coating with paints or lacquers. Almost no preparation is required saving vital production time in creating the final product.

Our recommendation is to coat the surface with one coat of sanding sealer or primer before applying the final coat. A very light sanding between coats may be required.

Panel sizes
Our production system is unique in that we can offer panel up to 1220mm wide (4ft) and up to 3050mm long(10ft). this enables the panels to be installed floor to ceiling in most projects.

Our partners have over 60 years’ experience in embossing wood, but only recently did they develop the system to create the wide format embossed panel.

Each pattern is created using engraved rollers 1300mm wide and 440mm diameter, we are one of the only companies in the world able to create such large rollers of this type and the only company in the world to create our own machine with which to process the panels. Significant investment has been made over the last 3 years to facilitate the creation of this system.

We are constantly creating new designs and patterns but can create unique patterns for our customers who wish to have something unique.
